Fiberail Sdn Bhd ( Fiberail) incorporated in 1992, is a joint-venture company between Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM Berhad) and Petrofibre Network(M) Sdn. Bhd. (PFN), licensed under Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 as a Network Service Provider (NSP) and Network Facilities Provider (NFP) primarily in the telecommunications industry.
A "carrier's carrier", Fiberail provides the backbone infrastructure and ancillary services to Telco providers. The company has also expanded its customer base to include Application Service Providers, Internet Service Providers, Managed Network Service Providers and Global Operators.
Fiberail commissioned the Metro Ethernet services in the Klang Valley and it has then further extended to Northern and Southern region. With its converged network, Fiberail is now able to provide even more resilient infrastructure enabling Fiberail to also provide the last mile connectivity thus playing an important part in the broadband network plan for the country.
Fiberail delivered a commendable performance for the financial year ended 31 December 2009, despite an environment of mounting and intense competition. Fiberail recorded revenue of RM 162.06 million, representing a growth of 16.6% from RM 139.01 million in 2008, while the profit after tax stood at RM 42.60 million, a significant increase of 69.6%.
The momentous revenue growth is primarily attributed to the increased in sales of core products coupled with an intense operational cost control.
